KEYPORT — The Red Raiders claimed their second straight victory last week with a 21-7 win over Point Pleasant Beach. They face Metuchen today.

The stars from last week were quarterback Desmond Underwood, who rushed 16 times for 123 yards and a touchdown, and thew a 55-yard touchdown pass to Cody Young, said assistant coach Pete Miller. Chris Hogrefe threw a 34-yard touchdown to Zack Frick.

The defense was lead by Underwood who had an interception. Zach Ochs also made an interception, and Christian Smith recovered a fumble caused by Erik Nellis.

The football Red Raiders now have a record of 2-1.

Other squads had a more disappointing week.

After crushing Manchester Township 4-1 for their second win, the field hockey Raiders lost all three games this week.

They lost 1-0 to Mater Dei on Monday, according to coach Valerie Rogers. Then, fell to Henry Hudson Regional 4-0 on Tuesday and 3-1 to St. Rose on Thursday, according to NJ.com.

The field hockey team is now 2-6.

Girls volleyball is still seeking their first win. They fell to 0-9 this week with losses to Rumson-Fair Haven, Holmdel and Lakewood, according to coach Kyle Keelen. 

Boys soccer went 1-1 on the week with a 5-2 loss to Shore Regional and a 3-0 shutout of Henry Hudson Regional, according to coach Brendan Hilliard and NJ.com. They are now 2-6.

The girls soccer Raiders lost 4-3 in the last few minutes against Roselle Park, according to coach Jennifer Rojas.

Sophomore Milena Wenzel, senior captains Nicole Blackmon and Kerry Reilly scored the goals for Keyport. Goalie Alexis Breen had over 20 saves in the game, Rojas reported.

Girls soccer is now 2-4.
