Keyport 5K: Leary, Vecchio post best times for boro residents

KEYPORT — Zachary Kudlak, 32, of Long Branch beat-out a 5:25 per mile pace  Sept. 26 to finish first overall in the Keyport 5K road race. He finished first in a field of 272 racers by posting a 16:49.2 finish in the 3.1-mile course that finished at Waterfront Park.

Meagan Drapkin, 31, of Brick, posted the best time for women with a 19:06.31 finish. She more than a minute ahead of runner-up Jennifer Gunn, 51, clocked in at 20:35.43, and and Robin Campbell, 35, both of Aberdeen, who finished at 20:43.3.

Jan Stoffan, 43, of Helmetta, Matt Coleman, 38, of Oceanport, finished fractions of a second to place second and third overall and in the men’s division with 17:14.29 and 17:14.97 respective finishes.

George Leary, 51, and Nina Vecchio, 33, posted the best times for Keyport residents. They clocked in at 20:31.8 and 22:02.8 for 11th and 17th overall finishes. Leary finished fourth in his age group and Vecchio finished first in hers.

Keyport girls, almost all Red Raider field hockey players,  swept the top five spots in the women’s 15-19 age group. Aysa Viola, 17, posted the best time with a 25:22.02 finish.
