KEYPORT — Six days of revelry began Monday night.
The 49th Firemans’ Fair kicked off at 7 p.m. Monday evening and continues through Saturday culminating in a fireworks show over the bay.
Here’s a breakdown of the schedule:
- Tuesday is character night. Fairy tale characters will be walking around the fair.
- Wednesday is Fireman’s Night. Firefighters from surrounding towns will be visiting and they will be bring some of their engines with them.
- Saturday will feature a fireworks show and a super 50/50.
- Bracelet nights for unlimited rides will be held on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Bracelets are $25 each.
The fair is the borough volunteer department’s biggest single fundraiser.
“All the companies, they use the money to pay their gas, electric, telephone,” said Hank Young, one of the fair’s organizers. “They use it to pay all their bills.”
About 15,000 people are expected to come through the fair during the six-day run.
